My artwork celebrates the unique western Canadian landscape and the animals and birds that make up the spirit of the prairies, foothills and mountains.

I love capturing the bulk of a black or brown cow against a green light-soaked field, or the dark blue-black of a crow transposed against a cobalt blue sky. Anything with big energy or a cheeky attitude gets my attention.

As an artist, I love to create and explore within many different mediums. My painting allows the creative freedom of working with beautiful color and big surfaces, while creating hand-pulled block prints gives me the satisfaction of simplifying my artistic voice into black and white. Woodcarving gives me the best of both - I can work in three dimensions and have fun with color.

My block prints are created by carving into a flat medium like wood, linoleum or rubber, then making paper prints from the resulting piece of artwork. It's a hands-on process that reveals its magic in stages, and I love the process as much as the final result.

Once I discovered block print carving, that process led to an enchantment with wood. To satisfy my whimsical side, I create woodland Santas, gnomes, snowmen and crows, each with their own personality.
I have exhibited my work in art shows in Calgary and Canmore, and my carvings and paintings are held in collections across North America, Europe and Asia. |
