Louise started painting in 1997. A beginner watercolour course with Shirley Marusaik through the Canmore Community Centre turned out to be so rewarding she continued in workshops with Jack Reid, Marilyn Kinsella, Michael Svob, Gregg Johnson, Brent Heighton and weekly classes with Donna Jo Massie. The regular job has gone by the wayside and Louise paints and custom frames full-time out of her Canmore home.

Born and raised in a farming community north of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Louise spent many memorable family vacations as a child in and around the Canadian Rockies. Her parents are an adventurous pair, who love to travel; the back roads were the preferred routes. They instilled in Louise an appreciation of the wilderness and the beauty of nature at a very early age. As an adult she continues to explore through backpacking, backcountry skiing, mountaineering, climbing, canoeing and kayaking

With literally thousands of beautiful photographs to choose from (courtesy of her camera-competent husband), deciding what to paint can be a challenge at times. Watercolour is a very portable medium; suitable for breathtaking scenes of cascading falls, challenging mountain climbs, vibrant wildflowers and coniferous forests. The medium fits easily into a backpack, a boat or a helicopter and can be set up in a mountain environment in minutes.
