'Miners Life'

Opening show July 18th.

Although Canmore is commonly recognised as a centre for recreation, it was formerly a coal mining town. The mines closed in 1979 but the community of Canmore is proud of it's past and celebrates this every year with a parade through the town on Miners Day.

CAAG is celebrating the mining past of Canmore with some wonderful art and photographs in the Canmore Library Art Gallery.

CAAG is very grateful for the help received from the Whyte Museum in Banff and the Canmore Museum, who have loaned photographs, art and artifacts to the show.

Photographs by Lawrence Chrismas give an interesting insight into Canmore and it's mining families when the mines were open.
