Spotlight on the Arts

On September 17th, the Town of Canmore is inviting the community to come to the Civic Centre for an evening of wine and appetizers with a focus on notable Canmore artists.

Among those honoured will be CAAG life member Bob Smith, who will be recognized for his Lifetime Contribution to the Arts.

For more details, please click on Spotlight on the Arts.

Biography Binder

A new Biography binder is being created, and all CAAG members who would like to have their biography included, are asked to provide a new and updated bio, preferably with pictures. If you can send your bio document as either a jpg or pdf, that would be much appreciated. Please send your information to Dea Fischer at

Next Group Exhibition

The next group show will be the Small Gems Christmas exhibition running from November 26th through December 28th. Further details can be found off the Members Information page under Small Gems. Time to start working on your best miniatures!

Art of the Postcard

While we're looking ahead, please note that from April 16th through May 3rd next year, CAAG will present a new kind of exhibition — “The Art of the Postcard”.

All pieces are to have an outer dimension of either 4 X 6 inches or 5 X 7 inches. The back of each piece can be finished in the manner of a postcard.

Each piece will be fitted into a clear plastic sleeve and hung clothesline style so gallery visitors can view the back.

Members are encouraged to create some cards in these formats and, when travelling, mail them to CAAG at Box 8023, Canmore, AB, T1W 2T8.

Alternatively, on the regular dropoff night, simply bring your created postcards for hanging and sale in the show.

Help rescue some of the leftover books from the book sale. Learn how to alter them into a work of art, keepsake or personal journal. All materials will be supplied but feel free to bring any personal embellishments you would like.
